Timberlane Huckleberry SB2389 (1994 – 2013) was a pure-bred Cleveland Bay stallion. His sire was Mr. Tobias and his dam Timberlane Mulberry. Timberlane Huckleberry was a splendid example of the Cleveland Bay breed standard. He stood 16.1hh with over 9” of bone, rich mahogany bay colour, beautiful head, kind eye, and straight, true, free action. He was bold, intelligent and full of heart. He provided ridden dressage displays for the Cleveland Bay Horse Society at Malvern, Royal Stoneleigh, and the British Equine Event. He lived and worked with geldings and mares, which identifies his superb temperament and sensible disposition.
Linda purchased Huckleberry from his breeder, Sue Jeffrey, when he was 4 years old. He then went straight into the hands of New Zealand trainer Donn Collins. Donn prepared him for his NaStA performance test that he (comparable to the 100-day test) completed in 2000. He achieved a Grade 1 in the performance test that evaluated his ability at dressage, jumping, cross-country, conformation, temperament and paces.
He was ridden to hounds, trained with point-to-pointers, and competed at affiliated dressage and show jumping competitions. For the last years of his life Huckleberry was part of our Cleveland Bay driving team, driving as a single, a pair and the leader in the four- in- hand.
Huckleberry won the ridden Lincoln Challenge Cup, and was part of the winning Cleveland Bay team who stole the march on the Irish Draught team at the Cleveland Bay vs. Irish Draught Breed Challenge. He gained his prestigious Cleveland Bay Premium in 2001 and in the following year gained Reserve Champion at the King George V Cup at the Premium Stallion parade in York.
Timberlane Huckleberry died in 2013 but his progeny lives on around the globe. Frozen semen for AI is available world-wide, distributed by the renowned West Kington Stud in Wiltshire, England.
